If you're looking to improve your dialogue writing skills (for or something else), this 2016 talk by narrative designer Mata Haggis is very well worth a watch.

Writing 'Nothing': Storytelling with Unsaid Words and Unreliable Narrators youtube.com/watch?v=LPkbAMj-xV

In it, he shares a few tips on how to use ambiguity to create a subtext for your characters dialogue, and thus make the scenes more interesting for the audience.

@lertsenem oh shit it's mata haggis of matazone, that brings back memories

@envgen Good ones? I didn't know him before watching this talk.

@lertsenem he used to make flash animations waaaay back, like 2000, and had a thriving web community on the matazone forum (which in hindsight was very reminiscent of mastodon), then he went into making webcomics and corsets, then game design

@lertsenem Thanks for sharing this! It's super relevant as I'm busy rewriting a previous story of mine, and trying to find elements to make it more engaging.
